Brake issue on a 66' Comet Caliente

Have a '66 Comet Caliente that was converted to disc brakes before I bought it.Had original single bowl Master cylinder and vacuum booster. Both were leaking so I replaced the vac. booster and upgraded to a duel bowl master cylinder. Seeing that front brakes were from a '68 Fairlane I installed a '68 fairlane master cyl. Rear is from a Lincoln Versailles. Problem is that while the brakes do stop the car the pedal is very low, goes halfway to floor. Another problem is getting enough leverage to e-brake cables for them to operate properly and for the rear disc's to work. Anyone do a similar conversion or able to offer any help? The Fairlane M.C. is a 15/16" bore, brand new.

The low pedal may be the result of the Versaille rear. In order to have the rear disc brakes to work properly, the parking/emergency must be used on a regular basis as this adjusts the clearances on the rear calipers. You will have to fabricate something that will give you more mechanical leverage (travel) when you set the brake. See if any of the levers under the car can be lengthened to obtain this added travel.

Another thing to consider is changing the master cylinder - the 68 Fairlane (Torino?) was a disc/drum set up. You probably should get a master for a disc/disc car, maybe the Versaille (the Granada/Monarch master that was used with the same rear should be the same as the Versaille)..
