Can a Frozen Hood Latch be Fixed?

I have a hood latch for a 32 hood that has a frozen spring... has anybody had any luck freeing or disassembling one of these latches... and if so, how do I do it? Any help would be appreciated as I am a newbie and don't know where to start. Thank you.

I am not familiar with the 32 hood latch but I would start with a very liberal dose of a penetrant like WD 40. I'd shoot it a couple times day for a few days & the start trying to work the latch & see if it will move at all. If that doesn't work then I would drill out the rivets (I assume there are rivets) holding it together & clean the parts up & reassemble & rerivet back together. Just an idea.

WD40 is no good as a penatrant, use PBblaster or kroil for that. ken ct.:)

take them off and submerge them in a 50/50 mix of acetone & automatic trans fluid. rivet kits and new handles are available from various early ford or model A dealers, Macs, C&G, Etc. or just buy new hood latch's also available.
