Radiators

I'm sorting out some radiators. How do I tell the difference between 28/9 and 30/31? I hope to bring a couple to Hershey.

Clem:What year is your A?? The ones that look like yours and are that dimension are that year. The others are the other year(s).

28-29 have a threaded neck,30-31 have an opening more like modern radiators

Didn't the 1929 style radiators used in the first part off 1930 for commercial pickups use the opening more like modern radiators? I would just use the overall height as it is enough different to make a quick id.

Wick, I'm on my way to the garage to check my radiators. Do you want original water in them or new?

I actually know a guy who has said that he has a water jug from the ford factory that was filled up with water about the time model a's were produced. And once a year he takes two drops of water and adds it to his radiator so that he is in fact using original water in his radiator. He's the type of guy that doesn't B.S. a lot, and I've never heard the man tell a lie. But everytime I see him now, it reminds me of that story, and I still to this day do not know if that is a true story or not lol

I own Granpa's axe now. It was my Dad's before me.

The head has been replaced twice and the handle three times - but it's still Granpa's axe.

Actually, the USS Constitution is about 80 percent new material done during the various restorations over the years. But it's still the USS Constitution.

This I can understand. Unlike the actual Constitution which is virtually unchanged - but you would NEVER know it now to be the original.

Sorry. This a technical board. Leave your political being outside the door.

While your on the subject of radiators is there any difference between years, other than the 29 or 30, are there any changes between 28/29 or 30/31, for example do they fit their respective shells correctly, were some thicker than others, I ask because I got 3 extras out today to clean them and see what condition they are in and the 28/29 is thicker and a lot heaver than the 2 30/31's.

The Standards book shows the differences between the years. The 28's had holes to mount the fan shroud. The top and bottom tanks also had some changes. As far as fitting, the short one should all fit 28 and 29, and the tall one fits all 30-1. AA's had thicker cores and fit a wider (front to back) shell.

Thankyou, the 28/29 has the screw on cap but is thicker, and one of the 30/31's is bolted into a commerical shell, I didn't notice a height difference in any of them, I'll look at them again.
