I have seen the charts stating what colors where used in different years.. but when did a "year" start?

Today, next years model are available in late summer. Was this the same back in the Model A days?

Is it possible to have a late year 1928 Model A with a color combination from 1929 that would have come from the factory that way?

Yes, I have a factory invoice sent to the dealer that has that very same thing.
