Front license plate brackets

Fella's any recommendations . I purchase a set of repo license plate brackets for my 29 . The darn things look great but they don't fit the light bracket. Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance Gord

Buddy - For some reason I couldn't enlarge the attached image so I could get a closer look.

By stating the license plate brackets don't fit the "light bracket" (I am guessing you mean headlight bar), does that mean the plate bracket won't fit the diameter of the headlight bar? From what I can see in the image, it looks like they should. But to know for sure I would need a better detailed picture. Or, maybe you can refer me to the vendor you bought it from.

The brackets that you have should fit but the correct ones for 28 & 29 are slightly different if I see the photos correctly. I couldn't enlarge the photo either.

When I bought my '31 PU, it had a '29 light bar on it, with those same brackets for the license plate. Since then I have put the correct '31 light bar on it. The brackets fit the '31 light bar the same way it the '29.

Don't mean to be off topic or state the obvious but on many browsers ctrl + will zoom. Ctrl- will" minus you" out and shrink the page. Very handy.

Gord, Had the same problem installin YOM plates and scratched my head for quite a while before figuring it out. If you are running YOM plates with holes & slots for mounting use the holes in the outer most corners not the slots. When you tighten the bolts they will clamp the bar and then the plate. If you are using new style plates with a slot you will need to experiment. Not sure if the hole needs to be in the corners like YOM but you will need holes and a flat plate surface for clamps to work. Take some tin or an old plate to locate the holes so the clamp is tight on the headlight bar & plate before modifying your plate. Tim

I'm not aware who sells front license plate brackets. I assumed you guys all use bar clamps from the hardware store. Snyder's doesn't have them in their catalog, and neither does Mac's, at least I can't find them.

Snyders Part # A-14145-SS (Stainless) or A-14145 (Black)

Mac's show the same part numbers

Here is how my 1928 and early 1929 license clips look. The SERVICE BULLETINS tell when the clips changed to the newer shape and without the V reinforcing embossed into them.

Tom, I "flipped" my brackets & the plate sticks up & hides them. I don't know if that's the "proper" way, but it looks quite spiffy. Bill W.
