determine diff. ratio,closed drive shaft

In my 35 pickup I cant see any numbers on the rib however on the side near the rib the a a cast "tag" with a 43 on it ..Mean anything??

You'll see similar cast numbers on some other parts, meaning nothing more than a batch number on the casting.
 
I'm new here but needed to determine ratio on model A. This is the positive way to figure it out. Remove the filler plug in the rear end, clean and paint one tooth on ring gear white. have a friend slowly turn a jacked up wheel while you count the teeth. I think 38 or 39 teeth = 3.78/1 ratio. Now you can figure out proper speedo gear.
