I bought all four inside window garnish moldings that are made of brass and are chrome plated. I have been told they are from a 1950 Mercury Monteray 2 door.Does any one have information on these. Thanks.

Don't know about being brass but all 7 garnish moldings on Monterey models were chrome plated.

Have you checked them with a magnet?? Brass or copper flash over steel before chrome.

On the other hand I have seen hub caps advertised as Canadian/Brass.. Brass definitely forms easier than steel???

itsa52 Thanks for the input. I just rechecked them with a magnet and it doesn't stick. Pretty sure they are brass.Still hope someone here has the answer. Thanks

Like I said the Canadians made brass hub caps, brass garnish could have certainly been made too.

yes they are probably brass..i have seen and had in my inventory not only the garnish,,also 50 merc park lites / grills and hubcaps to name a few...cars were assembled with the parts that came down the assembly line..the vendors used what ever materials available at the time to to supply ford/lincoln/mercury and other mfg..Korean war was looming!!!!! some of us remember the frenzy of govt mfg parts for defense of our country..land of the free.because of the brave
