License Plate Warning !

i think in IL you can display YOM plates with any number and no funky DMV stuff but must have the up to date modern antique plates in the vehicle and must present them if asked. (can be in the trunk etc)

The CT law looks identical to the N.H. law.Simple, free, and in N.H.when asked about the plate condition, they say, legible. They don't care if we paint either. We've had the YOM thing here for a few years, front only.As of last Aug.1,(a year ago) we were allowed to run them front and rear.I was the first caller on the day it went into effect with a question.I was certified for the front YOM,but the paper stated one plate, run on front. The girl on the phone checked into it for me,and came back with the answer,if I had a plate to match the certified one, mount it and carry on.They didn't have forms printed up for the two plate certification. Now a year later, they still don't have them printed up.Instead if you want to run two plates they write 2 plates on the paper and hand it back to you.Quite a few cops still know nothing about the law at this time too.The N.H.website for law is absolutely horrendous for accurate information.

Greetings,

I just bought another car and was looking for Year of Manufacture plates. I saw one advertised on eBay. It was quite expensive, but looked great, was a low number 3 digit plate; and he said in the posting the it cleared the RMV for ROM plates. If all else failed he offered a 14 day money back guarantee.

I got the plate and went to registry to find out the plates were no good, and had not been for years.

He refused all my emails.

I finally got eBay involved, they threatened to close his account for excessive negative feedback. But it was 2 weeks of hell waiting at the RMV for 2 hours, emails, and eBay forms.

I finally got my money back. He has now changed all his auctions to "All sales final, no returns or refunds"

Please do not buy anything from License Plate King from Castleton, Vermont.

He has had many complaints, and is noted for doing this sort of thing.

Please beware.

I'm posting this only to make the point that there are usually two sides to every story, and before we jump to conclusions it's usually best to hear both sides. I have absolutely no connection with the seller.

The eBay auction number for the plate that is the subject of this dispute is 230773638675, closing on July 9.

The seller, Licenseplatekingcompany, has a feedback rating of 99.6%. In the last 12 months he has received 2647 positives and only 10 negatives, with the majority of the negatives due to shipping problems.

The seller, Licenseplatekingcompany, clearing states the following in large red print in the item description: "These are used tags. DMV clear when I last checked them. Please check them before purchase".

After you received the plate, you left POSITIVE feedback for the seller as follows: "Very fast service. Let's hope it passes the RMV".

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems that the FACTS speak for themselves.

FOR RANDY -
Well Randy, I did not place all the facts or the post would be 3 pages long. So to answer your questions, you see he states "clear when I last checked them"
Truth - by the RMV is this plate has been in use on a T-bird for over 5 years. He lied.

His comment "Please check them before purchase" I contacted him on how to check, his reply "Once you buy the plate bring it to the RMV, they will check it for you"-lie

Truth- it is very easy to check on the internet on the RMV.Gov site. I did search this, but the search did not show me correctly because the Mass.gov site has the word "Manufacture" spelled "Manufature" so my search was not correct. His answer for me to bring it to the RMV rather than use the computer, was to delay me. I'm sure, if he IS the KING, he knows this. He did this to deceive me and others.

Your 10 negatives are addressed by eBay as "30 consumer reports in 12 months"

A member of the ALPCA states "I know Chris Fretta, and know of his less than ethical practices. I have had several notifications from club members over the past several years"

I left my feedback when I received my plate, an error on my part, but if you look at my 100% rating I have never been burned by eBay. I did say, "BUT LETS HOPE THEY PASS RMV" Well Randy, they did not. What are you missing here? You are missing the truth.

Do you want to be treated like that? If so I have a mint 140 to sell you. Just send me the cash Randy, no checks.

But I will say that eBay assured me that it would be covered by Buyer protection plan. They were great to work with, and they defend the people.

So Randy, if you would like more facts, send me $300, and I'll send you proof worth the value of this plate.

This man is a fraud, he deceives, he lies. I am trying to warn my friends on Ford Barn, but for you, feel free to buy from him. In fact do me, and the others a favor, you buy him out. Trust me, what a deal.

Yes, I think you're missing something here.

CTVPA in mass you can call the registry in Boston and they will tell you if the number is registered. You can also go online for the same info
https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/RegInquiry/intro.aspx

Thanks, but it is even easer than that.
Once I went through this event, the lady showed me how to do this even faster. Go to the Mass.gov/rmv site, click 'Check my registration'. It opens a box, you have to enter the type, "PAY" for YOM ( they don't show that, so of the choices I chose 'PAS' for passenger) you enter the plate, and it says the car it is on, if it shows nothing, you're clear.

Simple now, but I trusted a crook.

hehe i wish IL would allow this - but they like thier money too much...
altho i ran my 29 IL plate number in that system and it came back clear haha

CTVPA,
THANKS for the heads up, I will not purchase any plates from this VT fella. He seems very deceptive in his description.
Thanks again for helping us all out.

Commissioner

I decided to buy YOM plates shortly after I purchased my A about 6 years ago. I was referred to a man in N. Calif. who had a website that not only explained all about the plates, but also listed all he had in stock. He also mentioned that all of his plates were guaranteed for 60 days after purchase to pass the DMV. I ordered a set, they were beautifully restored, and took them to our local DMV. There they were measured, examined closely as to the correct color, etc. and in about 1/2 hr. were registered to my car. The fact is I did have a prior referral and this man was reputable, and also clearly stated his warranty conditions and why.

These tactics are definitely against ALPCA's rules and if a person who has a problem with a transaction with him goes through the official ALPCA complaint process, he could be thrown out of ALPCA. Sounds like he should be!

Hello everyone,

This is Chris Fretta. I am the one that sold this license plate to Craig.

When i get emails from eBay they are usually transferred directly to my email address. For some reason i never got these emails forwarded to my email address. They only stayed in the eBay Mailing system.

Once a friend notified me of the issue with this gentle man it took me roughly 3 days to research and find the emails in the system.

I refunded craig fully for the plate and refunded his shipping back to him to send me the plate.

I mean no harm to any collector etc. I my self am a collector.

I have sincerely apologized to Craig for all the hardships. Im sorry.

Craig has also updated me on a couple of other plates that are not dmv clear. I have changed those listings now. I thank Craig for that.

Chris

He is still doing it !

I just found another, he is listing a set of 1934 plates as "Cleared for YOM the last time I checked" for $629 on sale for $440.
I checked the RMV They are currently on a 53 MG, and they are repainted, not allowed. (I know some get away with it)
Dear licenseplatekingcompany,

These plates are NOT AVAILABLE for YOM in Massachusetts, they are currently on the following car. Please change your listing.

PAY
Registration Number: 46

Vehicle Year: 1953
Vehicle Make: MG
Vehicle Model: TD

Registration Status: Active
Registration Status Date: 12/1/2012
Expiration Date: 11/13
Fee: Schedule

I sent him a message and he changed it. But this guy is a bad seed.

Chris,
You know this is not how it happened. You did not respond to any of my messages. At first you did not respond to our mutual friend. You did not respone to the first 2 levels of an eBay conflict notification. You only contacted me after the thrid and final level of eBay Formal Complaint.
Since then I have received remarks, comments and 'Thank You' P.M.'s from many others. I have even spoken to Greg Gibson, ALPCA President, who commented.
Chris, you have a long tract record of problems with your selling issues. Even last night I found more incorrect postings. Look at this thread, look how many negative comments are here.
This is just one of about 11 antique car sites I have posted on, and I have received comments on every one.
Chris you have to be watched. Please turn your act around.
I will continue to monitor.
