Is there a formula to determine how wide a rim should be
for a size tire ? :confused:

Just a example ---If I make my rim 2" wider I can fit a 4" wider tire on it.
AKA every inch wider I make the rim I can go two inches wider on the tire.

( THE ABOVE STATEMENT I DONT THINK IS TRUE ;) ) It is a way to explain what I am looking for.
{ And for GOD sake don't try this at home :eek: PLEASE leave it to the professionals :) }

In addition to Coker, other tire mfr. have similar info. It's often on a chart that not only shows rim width, but tire height, cross section width, and so on. Will look something like this:

a 4" rim max 6", a 10" rim max 12", a good rule of thumb but not gospel, each tire has a certain standard. If you have a 5" wide rim you have a limited option group of tires.

Bob's chart in a bigger size I hope.
If it comes up as a red X, then click on the X to open.
