Help with apparent fuel related problem

Yes i would do that. The tape will work its way in no matter how carefully you put it on.Believe me. ken ct. These fittings do not seal at the threads its on the bevel of the nut or collar on the tube.

Yeah, I know the threads don't make the seal. Okay, Prof. I'll follow your sage advice because you are older than I am. LOL :D

Removed the teflon tape, lubed each fitting and snugged them up really tight. NO LEAKS.

Thanks again folks. I knew Barners would be right there to help me out. Lawson

Lawson. Did you seal the hole where the SW pickup tube where goes through the top of the carb? I used a drop of epoxy to seal off the drill hole. That could be the source of the leak.

No, I haven't done that. How could that effect the vacuum? The tip of the probe is lower than the level of gas in the bowl, so it will be sucking gas only, not air, but I will give it a shot.

I agree Lawson, unless you made an excessively big hole, gas may slosh out of the hole driving. It wouldn't hurt to do it anyway, but never seen one that was sealed. OMO ken ct.

No, the hole is not excessively large. You may recall that I bought the top already drilled for the SW, several years ago. I'll probably put one of those little fabric donuts over the hole, or maybe a small O ring.

I agree that it seems like there would be no effect on the vacuum, but SW clearly spells out sealing that opening in the installation instructions (attached) and if you have had no success in resolving the high speed stumble after tightening all the fittings this would be the only loose end.

Yes, I am going to seal that hole with, probably, a small O ring. It does still seem to struggle, however slightly, at about 50 mph.

Yes your WD-40 would work, just watch it disapear in the leak, and your WOT and no dropped beets, but with load it needs vac/advance its not there with your leak ....so please tell my how the WD-40 going to work, if the leak is in the heater house its self.?? disconnect and give it a run .......OLD....BILL

I did isolate the heater and that is not it.

Translation please. lol and your WOT and no dropped beets LOL

Mr. Lawson: That's: Wide Open Throttle,,,and not missings, running on all cylinders ( 8 ) in your case ....Glad it's fixed .... OLD...Bill
