Did Ford make a 2 door phaeton in '32?

Back in the late 60's in Portland, I recall a 32 2-door phaeton that a rodder bought from somebody, dropped in a Chevy V-8, and did the usual (at the time) metal flake paint job and tuck & roll vinyl upholstery job. He drove it around the neighborhood for several months in its as-found condition and everything appeared to be stock Ford. It had 32 headlights, steering wheel, instrument panel, etc. I was surprised to learn later on that Ford never made such a car. This modification must have have been more common than some think.

Here, how about these:

If you all look at the 36 shown above, it is actually a 4 dr ph. A vidieo strip in the listing shows it being driven and a clear view of the rear doors. There are a lot of made up 2dr creations including Model A's. I know of one in Greenville TN that fooled nat'l Model A judges, it was not shown at the time, just present at a meet.

Brad is the black '32 a German or English body? I know Glaser made these for A's and '32s, but this one has the traditional English 'wing' lamps.

I don't have any photos but I still have the car I used as a pattern to make the bodies for the 31's and the 32's The 34's (2) were close coupled like all the others The 32's were simple conversions. The 34's were built the way I thought they looked best with long doors and close coupled back section, simular to Packard convertible Victorias Don Babb

Hi Bick,

The chassis was built at the Ford factory in Ontario, Canada and then was shipped to London and bodied by the Carlton Carriage Company. (Carlton is perhaps better known for its coachwork on Talbots and Bentleys).

Thanks Brad that's interesting, years ago I discovered an post war Austin. It had a body that was very similar. Makes for a nice looking, different '32.
