Benefits of an H pipe (flathead)?

I posted this on the Hamb, and I'll post here as well.
My 28 A tudor has a C59A, stock with dual pipes and Smithy mufflers. Trying to decide whether to put in an H crossover ahead of the mufflers. Any benefit performance wise? How about the sound? Will it lose that flathead burble?
Thanks.

will sound different everthing helps

Like a heat riser, it will help to homoginize the back pressure... This will, imo, theoretically help performance... Gotta remember, though... We are talking flathead here... Karl

If you read my book you will see the H-pipe made absolutely no difference under the test conditions outlined.

I've got to admit, I did not really expect there would be a performance difference.... more about the sound really. :D

I have to agree with Bassman. It's all about the sound. I think it would have the same affect as leaving the heat riser unblocked.

In my experience the H pipe got rid of the raspy "backfire" kind of sound when decelerating which I didn't care for but some like. Smoothed out the exhaust note for me.
'Course I don't like Harleys with straight pipes either; to each their own.
