Hi to all, what causes oil to come out of the oil fill tube? my wifes roadster is a strong runner and is an inserted motor (we have no idea who built the motor) when driving and stopping at a light you can see little puffs of smoke comming from under the hood and when I check it out, there is oil on the side of the block that appears to be comming from the oil fill tube. thanks for any and all input.

Too much blowby caused by worn rings. An old sock over the fill pipe helps to keep the engine clean, or you can add a road draft tube.

Whatever you do, do NOT block-up the oil filler pipe by stuffing something inside...

If that blow-by pressure cannot escape there, it will go elsewhere, usually the rear main, taking all the oil with it, leaving you with a dry crankcase, toasted bearings, and a fouled clutch to boot.

A drained bank account, pissed off wife, and sleep on the couch.:eek:

There is a difference in oil caps depending on the year. Apparently this was always an issue which Ford was trying to correct. It appears a '31 cap is supposed to be the best one. How much oil is this monster throwing ? Some is normal.
