Hi Fellas -

I just bought a 38 ford standard tudor 85. I feel like a knucklehead, but would rather be embarrased than mess up a 75 year old back seat. Can i get some help in HOW to remove the back seat without messing it up. I thought I would just reach my hand in the crotch between upper and lower and pull up, but no luck. I did not try to kill it though.

Thank you for any help you can give a newbie......

Tom

I might be wrong but I think you lift up on the front of the seat bottom.About where your ankles would be if you were sitting in the seat.

That's how it is my '40. As I recall, there are two posts that fit into holes in the floor. If you think it's hard getting it out, wait until you try to put it back in:(

The rear seat on my '38 club coupe is removed by lifting up on the front of the seat at the floorboard, then pull forward.

I had a problem with my '40 but it came out. What I did is push the cushion back then lifted up. It was stuck in holes from dried paint. It finally came out.

Pull up on the cushion at the front of it. I believe the seat back is held by downward pointing hooks at the top and maybe a couple of screws on either side at the bottom. I will try to get up to my shop and look at one with the rear seat out if this does not work.

What mike42 and TJ said, push and then lift, there can actually be a slight catch that you will need to clear and might take a good shove. That makes the fit secure.

Thank you all for the help. It's nice to know people will go out of their way to assist another. I hope I learn enough to help someone myself in the future.

Thanks Again - Tom
