I think you just need to connect with a '35-6 body parts book. I'm surprised no one on here has one handy...I don't have one for this period but I can find you a cheap source for a repro one most likely.

bruce

your right I dont have the 35 - 6 body parts book.. I have the green bible on cd but have misplaced or loaned it (i thought it was somewhere online?)

no.. tailgate hinges on a 36 woodie are nothing like this.. I'm thinking its either for the front seat, or for inside the front door.. as theres really no other place it could go.. (that is unless its for a different car. )

I went through the 35-6 and the 37-8 hardware books and can not locate these brackets. I also went through the 35 SW body book and they are not listed. many times ford would sell assemblies such as brake drums (hub and drum) each part of the assembly had a part number but because the two pieces were not sold apart a third part number was used to identify the assembly and that is the only number listed in parts books. Maybe someone else can identify by the photo.

The sequence of number leads to what I think is a top iron assembly part. The sequence 48-755 indicates that it is in the 1935-36 phaeton domain. 48-755850-51 are side curtains and 48-755400 is the rear curtain rod so the piece in question location is somewhere around there. NO, how about the L/R top iron pivot bracket that mounts to the wood bustle header, the top irons mount to that part and pivot.

So we would have had quite a search once we turned up the catalog!! Obscure part for rare body turns out to be obscure part for different rare body...
Anyway, you need the body parts catalog (and the hardware catalog too). DS probably sells'em, if not I can lead you to sources. I don't have any around for these late models.
And the part is still useful...it'll keep your piece of driftwood there from washing away in floods.
Presumably it came swedged or riveted to next piece in top assembly and so had no separate existence in the catalog.

dick

last night I found similar info when I used the 48-755 prefixing.. (through the info I have on my green bible cd rom.. )
i guess I'll need to find someone with phaeton to look over..

thanks again..

bruce it seems that this still has the correct bolts to attach the wood header to the bustle.. so I guess I should look for more info on top assemblies for 35 - 36

in the end I am sort of glad its not for my wagon, as I have no idea where I would have used it.

Jeff,

Funny you should find a phaeton part in your wagon. The front seat in my 32 woody turned out to be a front seat for a 35 phaeton.:D I sold it to a phaeton owner in MA.

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

scott..

and to think I sold bruce lancaster a phaeton windshield once.. before i realized what it was!

In the hardware and trimming book, part# 48-155486 is a bracket for the 35 phaeton (top iron support) and it is similar to your picture, with some difference. Your part may be for a roadster or cabriolet. The number you have on the part may be a casting number and is not always the part number.

That part is for a 1935-36 phaeton. 48-755490 fits in the right rear corner and 48-755491 fits in the left rear corner. The saddles with the leather straps that support the top irons when folded back are screwed into these pieces. I am looking for the saddles if anyone has some for sale or that I could borrow to use for a pattern.

Jim, LeBarron Bonney sell the saddles and leather straps. Saddles are $34 pair. Not worth the effort to make as they look really good. I bought a pair for mine. I do however need a pair of the brackets that you have found in your woody Sawzall, so if you don't need them and would like to see them go into a 35 phaeton let me know with a $ amount and I will buy them from you. Dan.
