Solo to Monument Valley

You really do a great job and service to all of us.You also make these winter days uplifting. The U.S. is truly Gods country. Thanks

Bob, I have some very strong feelings about your country from fond memories of living up north (Manchester, Leeds, Blackpool area) for two years.

Anytime you're ready to check Utah off of your bucket list let me know and I'll give you the red carpet guided tour. I'd love to do it.

Goes for anyone else too.

Craig aka Prof. Henry

Too kind thanks Craig, may take you up on that 1 day.

Bob

You'd pay a lot too with gas at nearly 4 bucks per gal and getting not quite 11 mpg. That's like 40¢ per mile just for gas!!

That's all?? You have a leak or something else wrong. The pickup has a 59AB. It gets 18-19. The Courier is a 215 six with 2 carbs and it gets 17 - 19. Maybe you need to fly Ol' Ron out and have him tune it for you. He would earn his keep in the improved mileage alone.

I haven't had any better than 11 mpg since my engine was totally rebuilt. I'm thinking that it is most likely the high altitudes I run at (5,000 - 15,000 feet elevation). Would that increase or decrease the gas mileage? I run the sea level size jets on the 94 to reduce ping. That would use a little more gas too. I run timing fully advanced for the high altitude without any ping. Don't know what else could be done. I'm open to any ideas.

I'd probably put my money into an overdrive if I really cared.

Thanks for these terrific views. Really felt like I was "riding along" on the 10% grade shot through the windshield. Great eye for photography and great car!

I did find something tonight that I think could have affected my gas mileage on my trip. For some time, even on my trip, my engine has run rough until warmed up. Well, tonight I was cleaning the engine and noticed that one of the sparkplugs was loose! Took at least a turn or two to get it tight. I think that certainly could have made a difference. We'll see on the next trip.
