hey guys so i got a 52 crestline... and found a 3 speed manual overdirve manual to replace the burnt up auto that was in the car and need to get a pedal assembly .. any suggestions? also i think ill buy a floor mount shifter apposed to finding another colum shift. whats your thoughts ? thanks!

dont forget you will need an over sized pilot bearing to go in the merc crank, and you may have to change diff gear ratio, autos used a higer rear end gear ratio

Thanks its actually a 49 merc trans going in the ford... so i will look in to pilot bearing... did they make a manual option for 52-52 crestlines, customlines, or mainlines? im not finding any pedal assemblys... also rear end is going to get swapeed with a rear axel out of 90's ranger with like 3.73 gears. right now i think the cars stock ones are 3.27? sor something low like that

so im wrong ranger axle wont work pinion offset is like 3".... what rear axle did these cars come with and maybe whats a good place to get a new ring and pinion for them? i checked the gear ratio it appears 223.. i dont think that will work to well witha 5 speed manual? whats everones thoughts thank you!

It's a fair amount of work for a change over even with going to a floor shift (if you can find one for a 52 three speed).

You have to get all the clutch linkage from the pedal to the bracket on the engine to hold the z (cross) bar. Not to mention the clutch , flywheel and bellhousing. Best way is to find a parts car with all the parts or find some one who is doing the opposite of what you are planning.

Definitely a doable project. I did the same thing with my 54 Ford but used a top loader 4 speed.

Another option is using a later automatic, like a C-4 from a later Ford. Flat-O-Matic makes a nice kit for this.

The pilot bearing goes in the flywheel, not the crank shaft, the big hole in the rear of the auto crank won't hurt a thing. Walt
