I have collected temperature data after installing a brand new 160 degree thermostat. I did not drill any bypass holes in the new thermostat. I wanted to collect data without the bypass hole first. I will drill a bypass hole and collect more data.
The attachment shows the data for 3 different tests. The blue line is without a thermostat. The pink (magenta) line is with an old thermostat which I thought was a 160 degree thermostat (maybe it was not a 160). The yellow line is for the new 160 degree thermostat. The temperature probe is located at the top of the radiator inside the neck between the thermostat and the radiator. Thus the temperature does not rise too fast at first until the thermostat opens. The yellow data shows the temperature rising slower then the pink data. This is due to the lack of a bypass hole in the yellow data.
