Oil Pan Gaskets

I am ready to install the oil pan on a rebuilt engine. Can anyone offer some advice on do's and dont's. Appreciate any advice. Thank You Pete.

Don't over tighten, and don't deform or squish out the gasket.
And if your running those engine pans using those tabs can be a bit trying.
I cut my own fender washers to go long/narrow for the pans [It's all about spreading out the weight or pressure.] and a bit of rubber to stop the squeak these make.
Rubber on pan side so...engine block, gasket, goop, oil pan, engine pan, long/narrow washer [sheared from a cut down fender washer] flat washer, lock washer and finally the bolt. Easier to do than to say.

skip.

along with the above answers put liquid teflon or rtv on the pan end bolts as they are not blind holes and go into the crankcase. i also put a dab of rtv where the gaskets end at all 4 corners. also put away the torque wrench

I always use the paper style pan gaskets, the cork gaskets are bad about squeezing out the sides. I only use gasket sealer on the engine block side, that way if you ever need to remove the oil pan the gasket will remain in place and can be reused.
