I have not had my 1951 Ford very long and looking at pictures
of other 1951's I see some have tail light lens that look like the 1950 Ford
was there a time in 1951 that the tail light lens was changed
to the one with two points?

No, they all had the 2 points. Some people have removed the apears and put in 49/50 light assys. That looks like the car I saw at Hershey for sale a couple of years ago. Stood out by its color. Nice one, congratulations. Had one like it but mine was jet black.

One of MY favorite things about the '51 tailights is that it was quite simple to change them to the '49-'50 style. The detail in the light mounting area didn't change-all you had to do was throw away the chrome wind splitters, fill a couple holes, and mount the earlier, much cleaner lights. .

There is an accessory chromed side spear that people add on to make the 49/50 appear to be a 51. From the side it looks like a 51.

Or.....even better, you can take the plain-jane looking taillights off of a '49 or '50 and throw them away. Dig your chrome wind splits out of the trash, drill 4 holes, and put the better looking '51 taillights in place of the '49-'50's.;):D
