60 Amp Ammeter?

Buster T. here, Well whada' you think of THIS! Bill, bless his heart, is puttin' in a KEY start ignition switch even with an accessory position!
By the way, what's "PURIST" mean? Is it like, I'm "PURE" Rat Terrier" or what? Buster T. (Dog:cool:)

I tried that once and found that I didn't have enough hands to crank the A when cold as I did with the original type set up. One hand for the spark, other hand for the choke and no hand fot the key start. If you've got centrifugal advance it should be good.

May reconsider that one, Purdy. I'm leaving it stock until I get it driving. Maybe with the new seating, I'll be able to do the foot starter easier. I'll use the new switch anyhow & set it up as a "hot" switch. It's a really good looking heavy duty switch & short enough for gas tank clearance & accessory will be handy if I add something. I put a leather patch on the tank for added security against shorting & put one behind junction box also. I hate the smell of a hot wire!!! Bill W.

Where did you find the switch?

How about forget an ampmeter altogether and put in a voltmeter instead. You won't have to worry about what passes through the ampmeter, what gauge wire etc. You will always know with a voltmeter if it is charging, not charging or overcharging at all times. Keeping the car O.E. does not seem to be an issue.

Bill, did you read this about the Mac's switch.
PLEASE NOTE: The total depth of this switch is 2-3/4" from mounting bezel to back side of rear starter terminal stud. There will be clearance issues on Model As with a stock cowl gas tank. You will need to fabricate an under-dash bracket for the switch.

A lot of our guys do this, Rich. They put it in place of the ammeter. Put both ammeter wires together on 1 post & the other post to ground, easy!
Yes, I KNOW someone will say, "But it will be reading ALL the time hooked up that way"!! Yes, I know that, so what! It'll not draw enough current to burn a beard whisker. Scientifically, it draws about this - much current! A damp battery has 190 times more GHOST VOLTAGE than that! One fellow put a HIDDEN micro-toggle switch to the ground wire & sometimes wondered why his volt meter was DEAD! LOLI. <You can figure out the "I"
Bill W.

I have done the voltmeter thing already, but it still bothers me to see the ammeter pegged all the time....

Bob, remember Alfred E. Newman, MAD MAGAZINE, "WHAT, ME WORRY"? I'll post pics of it in soon! Buster T. says I'm a GENIUS, and I don't believe everything I read. My 2012-2013 catalog DOESN'T make that statement on page 101:D
Maybe it's on the website. If so, maybe they put it there 'cause some fool stuck a big wrong terminal POINTING the wrong way on the switch & toasted his "GERTIE" or "MABLE" or "MERVOUS" or Whatever!! Bill W. (Chief also taught me the fine art of proper use of the BALL PART of a BALL-PEIN hammer!) OOPS! Buster T. heard that???? I read outloud as I slooooowly type. Bill W.

Thanks Dave. In searching the web, I haven't found it yet. Do you possibly have a part number? Is it shallow enough to not hit the tank?
