Hello all, I recently got a '47 pickup that has sat for 30 plus years outside. The truck had a 59AB in it but it needs lots of work due to 30 years of water. I also got a 226 inline 6 out of a '48 that is said to be in good shape that I am picking up tomorrow. My question is are the engine mounts the same for the V8 and the inline engines? Thanks...

aw,
The trans bell, radiator, and lots of other seemingly obscure hoo-
has are different...plus...when you fire the six up and hear the exhaust
note you'll shoot yourself for not using a V8.

V8 mounts are different than a six. You'll have to drill out 8 rivits per side for the motor mounts. Trans mount will be the same for a 3 or 4 speed trans. And as Oldford says you'll need a 6cyl. rad. Ken

I beg to differ.... I love the burble of a 6. I pulled into a car show and some guy comes running over " HEY!! I love the sound of that Flathead 6" ! How did he know i was running a 6 cyl? Must of been that sweet sound of a Flathead 6! LOL Ken

Thanks for the info. I got a good deal on the six and thought it could hold me over for a while. I plan to rebuild the 59AB but with money being short on supply it might take me a while. Thanks again...

You also have to move the radiator mount to the forward position to get enough room for the six,the hood mount will have to be modified for radiator clearance or find one for a six.
