Front bumper problem

All Model A bumpers are supposed to be bowed? Really? Even 1928 and 1929 models?

Yes, I always thought 28/29 bumpers were straight and 30/31 were slightly bowed out. 28/29 would look weird with an outward bow. I've owned (6) 29s and they were all straight in the center area.

95% of the restored cars I've seen ('28-29) have the bars bowed inward once installed on the brackets. Not pretty.

I bought a 1928-9 front bumper with real nice original chrome, at Hershey one year. It was bent back in the center about an inch or so. I took the end bolts out and set the bars, one at a time, on a couple 6 x 6's and jumped on the center of the bar. I got the bar straight after several good bounces. You'll need to do one bar at a time, or have the circus fat lady do the jump! :D No apparent damage to the chrome.
