Mounting hardware for S/W door inserts

S/W front doors have a funny-looking stamped filler piece that attaches to the front edge of the window opening, under the molding. Does any S/W owner know what sort of hardware holds them in place? They appear to need four #8 screws, but I am not sure what length or style. Mine had been removed and replaced by a previous owner, and they used random modern screws.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, I just went down to the barn and looked at the Briggs 160 B that is in pieces and it has 8/32 D nuts in the door frame. The 2 screws facing forward are 1 inch flat head, and the screws facing out are missing, but looks like a 3/8 long flat head would work. Ed S.

Thanks for the information! Mine had been held in by round-headed screws.

Sorry not, visiting my sister in CT this weekend.
I haven't been to that show yet, hopefully sometime soon.

this piece? secure with wood screws of your choice, I suggest if you have not already filled the holes in the wood, do it now. the screws are hidden by the garnish molding.

No, he mentioned front edge. This is the vertical steel filler piece (that is reproduced) that attaches to the front inner edge of the door at the window opening. It requires #8 machine screws as mentioned. For those without slantwindow experience, it must be removed to take the glass out.

here are some pictures of the mounting hardware
the screws are 8-36 and the short round headed ones are 1/2 in long and have an internal lock screw
the longer ones are 1 1/4 in long
notice that between the spacer and the window molding there are thin rubber washers
if you cant figure these pictures out let me know

sorry Roger, thanks mot...a picture is worth a thousand words....had to take my laptop out and I am sitting in my car as I reply. Thanks for the pictures. now I can see that after all these years I am missing the thin rubber washers.

Thanks for all the additional information! BTW, I discovered my thin rubber washers stuck on the inner surfaces of the moldings.
