Do 32-33 pickup cabs use wood blocks like Model A's or do they just bolt right onto the frame?

And does anyone make new wood kits for the Flatbeds??

Thanks - New projct.

Dennis

The cab rests on six blocks of wood of various sizes. Here is a picture of the bottom of a cab with four of the blocks in place and the other two identified. Macs carries them for '32-34 pickups.

Great guys thanks! ID 32 cab bst how? Missing firewall and I do not see and holes where it would have screwed in (32 right) So it must be a 33 with only two bars around back of cab. Right/wrong?

The acid test is the '32's detachable firewall and instrument panel attached to the firewall, not an integral part of the dash like the '33. As you indicated, the back of the cab is the same on both '32s and '33s.

Hi all; Many cabs touch the frame and get damaged because the wood has shrunk/ rotted. Some repop wood used the dimensions of the old shrunk wood. Be sure that the rear of your cab is comfortably above the frame when mounted and bolted down. The front dimensions will show up in your hood gaps. Later Newc

Macs does carry them. Here is the catalog entry:

With respect, except for one running change to blocks early in the model year, all '32 four-cylinder blocks were the same regardless of vehicle type in which the resulting engine was installed. Their engine number prefixes varied by time of year and vehicle type, but the engines themselves.

I'm mounting a cab off a big truck (had the 4) onto the regular 32 frame and the blocks appear to work. Cab looks level and hood/ grill all fit. I assume this is what your saying, I can use these blocks?

metalman (and sonny)

Please excuse my mis-read of sonny's posting. Obviously this is about cab mounting blocks and not cylinder blocks.

It is highly likely that if bought the blocks from a supplier, they were intended for use on a commercial (i.e. regular) chassis so your result is what you were expecting and did experience.

Funny, how "Blocks" became "Blocks".........32 cab has a few differences. Firewall bolts in, dash is different, visor is different.

I wish somebody would make doors.

The bed rests on 8 anti squeak pads that separate the base of the bed from the pickup chassis. Below is a picture of the bottom of a bed that has had the boards and steel floor removed. Note the 8 holes at the ends of the cross members. The next photo shows a couple of the "pads" that remained when I removed the old bed from my pickup. I replaced the pads with doubled and glued 1/8 inch thick anti squeak that I got from one of the early Ford suppliers. The rearmost pads go in the brackets welded to the ends of the tubular crossmenber.
