More and more GAV while running/warm?

I rarely have to run more than 1/4 turn on the GAV in hot humid weather (Tilly-rebuilt). With the weather cooler and drier I usually have to dial in 1 turn.

For some reason now I'm having to turn it 4 turns or I get lean popping when the car decelerates. Runs fine other than that.

Looked for air leaking around the carb, loose fittings, etc. Nothing.

Ideas?

Thanks!

No, snapped ear off of Zenith, haven't rebrazzed, Marvel isn't running right, other Tilly is in need of Mr. Texas's work. This one has been a stalwart for 3 years from Mr. Texas.

It's gotta be running too lean for some reason: too much air getting in or too little gas. Since the problem is during deceleration, when the car is trying to run on just the idle circuit, that's where I would concentrate first. Maybe screw in the air bleed idle adjustment. Partial blockage of the idle jet--does it really idle just fine when not moving?

Idles fine, full retard or full advance.

Starts the first time as always, 1/4 throttle, pull the choke, 1.5 turns GAV, release the choke on ignition.

Roccaas,
Maybe try the rev-up & hand choke the carb with your hand. Might be a little crud in a jet or passage that will "SUCK" through?? Bill W.

Popping on deceleration can also be caused by leaky valves. Try a compression check. Maybe one of your valves is hanging up a little?
