Mid 70s Volarie in my 48. The F100 site has a bunch of options and hints. This pic was of the truck the first time out of the garage under it's own power.

I priced a dropped axle versus a Mustang II system on my 40 when I built it,and to my surprise the dropped axle was almost as expensive. So it was a no brainer to go with the Mustang II.

I have a 53 f100 and thinking of mII,
I have a flathead and was wonding if the mii drop is enought to clear pan on the flathead.

I used the Mustang II on my 55 f-100,piece of cake. Purchased the crossover piece from Speedway Motors along with the rest of the componets . It all went together without any problems.I have a flathead in my truck too,no problems with clearance.

I used the stock axle on my 56, and installed reverse eye main leaf and removed a couple of the smaller leafs. I haven't installed the motor yet so I don't exactly know how low it will be. The road's around here leave something to be desired, so I don't want it in the weeds.

Mine is pretty low ,but you can use different springs to change the height .JMO

Let me know if you find a site

I find it to be very interesting every time some one objects to discussions on the Barn, etc. forums, to questions relative to the alterations of the "old" vehicles.. That kind of attitude is what keeps many people from joining marque specific car clubs..
The only vehicle I have that is not altered, power, suspension, etc., is my '57 T-Bird.. It is dead *** stock except for a PCV system from an '64 292 F-100 and a coolant recovery system... Damn can't show the car at sanctioned meets.. Do I care, Nada.
My '56 Bird has a '68 302 and a C4... My '36 Ford is a "Johny Cash" car.. '36-48.
I guess when the forums engage the services of a "censor" then I'll take my business elsewhere....

38Conv,
Your question is as valid as discussions about juice brakes on '35s etc.
I just finished installing an MII in my '49 and it was easy. I have a '55 that I may do differently. Get a classic-hauler or Mid-fiftys catalog and look at their descriptions of 'fixing springs' etc. They claim close to same ride and handling. I was suprised to hear the cost is about the same. Then I'd go with the MII for disc brakes etc.
Good Luck on your project!
Dick
