Hey guys I tried to keep this in the 1st thread I started but no luck with a reply

Heres another newby question

I have 1 headlight not working (actualy its just a parker) sounds simple enough,

I get power to the plug, so I'm assuming its as simple as a globe

I've never had the headlights out of one of these before, so before I stuff a surround or knock off some paint I thought I'd ask is there a trick to removing the surround and lense?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Mike

thats answered some questions and asked some more :)

I would assume one I remove the retaining screw (looks to be item 14466) I would assume I would simply lift the bottom of the crome surround and it would come away from the lense.

In my case is feels like there is some sort of retainer as well and if I look down from the top it looks to be locked in some how

is there any little trick I'm missing, Ive tried holding my toung in a different way with no luck

Used to own a '38 standard many years ago.
As I recall the items you point out are gaskets.
After removing the lower screw and while holding the lens in place with one hand (to keep from dropping) pull the bottom of the bezel out and slide it upward to release hook at top.
Then remove lens by pulling straight out (may have to pry off if the gasket is stuck)

I'll add a note here~ "slide it upward" There are two (glass) centering tabs at the top of the lens that are vulnerable here. Use care and with the palm of your hand, bump the bottom of the door upward to release. It helps to apply mild pressure at the top while bumping. When one tab releases, the second will give it up, so gently test bump in one direction then the other. Paint is vulnerable also, so prepare for this with masking tape. If I scared you, I did good.

PN 13030 in the drawing is for a '37.
'38 and '39's have a full circle retainer.
Also '39 deluxe/'39 Mercury retainer top threaded tab is slightly different ( smaller ) than 1938 and 1939 standard.
This was because of the different angle of the headlight bucket sitting in the fender.
