For years, my 36 has burped gas. I've replaced the carb with a new 97. had skip do the dist. and coil. Using a IH 200 condenser from NAPA.
The engine is 2 years old. Still burps and smells like gas. Runs great 90% of the time.

I would check my advance and retard index plate and where its set ,middle line or close to it, orpoint setting in dist. .014 on used points.set new ones to .015. ken ct.

Don't mess with the distributor. If Skip did it it's right on time. These distributors are not set with a feeler gauge. To set them up like the Ford factory and Ford rebuilders you need the Ford~Heyer strobe machine which Skip uses. Each point is set to a dwell percentage, then the total dwell between the 2 sets must fall within a tight range. Sounds like you have a fuel problem. Send your carb to Uncle Max. G.M.

cant get thru w/ that email. very ingnorant here. should i mail it to you. i have your address? the only thing i'm sure of is my trusty ford has a problem w/either fuel or spark.

The fuel must be filtered as well as at low pressure. The inlet valve will not withstand dirty gasolene.

New 9 mos ago. 450 U.S. greenbacks.
I don't understand why you would question the new carburetor itself as you have said it had the symptoms on the previous carburetor. Could it be an issue with heat boiling the fuel in the carburetor ? Check or change to another intake or add a phenolic spacer under carb. Issues I had with carburetors was solved with Uncle Max and a new Stromberg not continuing, reason I am posting.
