Wheel color suggestions for black coupe

Hi guys, I would like opinions on what color to paint my new to me 16" rims with black wall radials. The 19" rims that came with it are straw colored. They look pretty good, but I was thinking about painting the 16" ones some shade of red. This car is going to be my driver and is mostly, but not completely original. It has an altenator, floating rear motor mounts, and the interior is tan naugahyde, but in the original style. I wish the interior was more original (cloth), but that is what came with the car. It has a new black paint job with a cream colored pinstripe. Would red wheels go with it? Would they be correct for a black Model A?

Black body in 30 had a red stripe. After that, it was changed to apple green. I would do as suggested and redo the pinstripe if possible to a correct color. Then the wheels to match or black wheels.

I'm fond of black and red...

Depending on the year of the car black was likely the original wheel color.

I like red wheels with whitewalls and cream or straw with blackwalls. Hate greens, although my 31 coupe is chicle /copra and had apple wheels. Wheel color is changing on it.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm now torn between Black and changing the pinstripe and wheels to red. I think I'm leaning to the red combo if it was a 30 coupe color. Was it a bright red or more of a blood red?

It's called "vermillion red". Pretty much just crayola box red. The basic red when you picture red. I'm sure someone can put up a good pic

I guess the good news is...anything goes with black! Personally, I like the black on black or black & apple green wheels the best.

Why bother to paint them ......I took my wheels to Les Schwab tire and had them powdercoated black for $25 each or $30 in one of 25 or so colors.. they clean them slandblast and powdercoat...they come back beautiful .....won't chip or peel ever.

I plan on doing powdercoating on them. I have a guy that used to do all my coating when I used to make and sell custom motorcycle parts. He usually cuts me great deals. I will see how close he can come to Vermillion Red.

Better to go darker than lighter with the Red. Too light and they will look pink-ish.

If you're having trouble deciding on a color, get some spray paint, do the wheels on one side in one color, the other side in the other color and live with it for a while and see which you like. Once you're decided on the color, take 'em to your powder coater.

For what it's worth, Old Henry somewhat "pimped" his personal '29 Special Coupe (which was all-black) with a red pinstripe (and other little features), so there's my vote for the red stripe, and ( therefore ), "wheels match the stripe", ergo: red wheels.

My '28 Special Coupe came to me the way you see it in my avatar. original colors were Andalusite Blue (VERY dark) with grey stripe, and black wheels (of course). I think the black wheels make for too much dark on the bottom of the car, so when I go back to Andalusite blue, I will match my wheels to the stripe, and perhaps do a spare set in black.

Since you're running 16" wheels, and radial tires, you're already veering quite a ways from "stock", so I think you are entitled to some liberties on wheel color...

( by the way - red wheels go faster ! ;) )
