Getting me down

After two years of waiting the MAFCA meet is almost here in BC. I cannot tell you how much I have been looking forward to seeing the tin and meeting the folks that drive em. Especially exiteing now that after a long restoration I can drive my coupe to the events.

Then the kids happened.
Both my step daughter and step son plan on wedding thier sweetys this summer, The wife's niece will be wedding her beau on Vancouver Island the week of the meet.

So, Looks like I will not be getting my wish this year.
If any of you see a guy crying on the fender of his Ford on the ferry, It will probably be me.
Here's hoping you all have a very sucsessful meet!
Cheers!

As they say, there's always next year! Hopefully you could make it down for the MARC National meet in San Diego next year. Bummer to can't attend the convention right in your back yard though.
Had a great vacation on Cortez Island back when I was a teenager. Beautiful country up there.

How long does a wedding take? Enjoy the meet, run out for a few hours of wedding and return to the meet.;)

And do I feel your pain ! I had planned to attend as well and so much wished to meet several of the host members, in particular; Jim D, John H and Terry W. Pam and I had hoped to spend a month on the road from the Ottawa area to BC then down south on the US west coast and back up through the mid US to home. Why not you ask; daughter's wedding as well.

Damn kids and thier "old fashioned traditions!"

Just how inconsiderate can these kids be? Go to the meet and make an appearance at the wedding, then bow out. It is the only logical thing to do! Don't they know the month of June is for weddings?

Love the idea of bowing out, only a couple problems.
Ferry to the wedding w/wifey and two kids from mainland to Nanaimo: $88.75 + gas
Do the doo and duck back to the mainland for the show $88.75 + gas + p/o'd OL + p/o'd Kids.
Hmmmmm $200.00 plus to get everyone angry with me.................sounds cool.

J.Franklin you're right June is the month for this. One kid announced then the other then the niece. Before we knew it we had three weddings competing for family attention, not to mention planning, and MONEY, lots of it.

My Daughter got married in February, She wanted Mom & Dad at the wedding....but we are busy all Summer! Now my Son informs he is getting married this coming June!! There is a lot to be said for Winter Weddings!

Sounds like you are using self-denial to kill the sting from all those whip marks. The "wife's niece" will likely be married 2.2 times. Vancouver meets for you? ZERO. If spending $88 x 2 plus gas to do both will get everybody mad, you have a problem bigger than just time management.

my daughter graduated from college in Boston the Saturday before the 1992 Dallas national meet. I drove our Model A to Dallas a week early, parked it in a DMAFC member's back yard, caught a cab to the airport. spent a fun 3 days in the People's Republic of Boston, then back to Dallas for the meet.
where there's a will there's a way. never mind the expense (I did the whole Dallas/Boston trip on American Express and lived to pay it off!). when will there be another Vancouver meet?

Farrell, watch out.... The next thing they will want you to do is loan them the Model A for the wedding. And then afterwards you will probably be asked to sell it to pay for the wedding. :(
