Go to your nearest land fill, highway weigh station, scrap metal place and ask them to let you weigh your vehicle. They are thrilled to do it. Call the highway patrol and ask where the nearest weigh station is. I don't buy weighing the front, then the back, and then adding the two together. I don't see how that could work.
Lawson,
I did go to the landfill (garbage) and they were happy to weigh my car for free. Drove onto the platform and weighed only the front wheels, then onto the scale for a full weigh. Finally just the rear wheels. Viola! Add the front and rear weights and you have exactly what the whole car weighed.
Gross vehicle weight is the maximum design weight, which includes full fuel, all passengers and luggage. I've never seen any GVW numbers for old Fords, but if you figure about 150 lbs for each passenger plus 100 lbs for luggage, you should be close.
Curb weights are empty vehicles with full fluids including fuel, and my info shows 2964# for a Deluxe Tudor if it's an 85 hp, or 2669# for a 60 hp, so adding about 850# (5 passengers plus luggage) should be close to design GVW.
