Rear Hub Torque ?

Don't think Ford had torque spec. back then. I use about 110 lb. If the cotter key wont line up I go a little more. I know a lot of people will say that is to much, but I don't think so. This is just my opinion. LOL Bill

I put my weight- 175lb- on a wrench thast is about a foot long... and move up and down a bit- to get close to 200 lb... Karl

Not enough. I believe the specified torque is 200-225lb then up to the next line-up cotter pin hole, but not exceeding 275lbs.

I like Karl's specs better. Ford mechanics didn't use torque wrenches. I have always heard that you should tighten it as much as you can, then turn it one more turn.

My figures are supported by Ford service Bulletins and corrections, as printed in the V8 Times, Sep/Oct 98.

As much as you can:confused: too bad for the really big guys, and the smaller guys, too bad for the guys who don't know how much is much.
What a way to build/work on a car.

I believe Bassman has the right numbers per Ford. When I rebuilt my rearend (that dosen't sound right) I used some med then fine lapping compound and when I re-torqued the nuts the drums seated pretty quick.
