VIN on door handle?

Anyone have their VIN on the inside of their inside door or window handle? In the process of fixing my window I noticed a VIN number on the inside of both and they match but they don't match the car.

I believe that would be a part number. Could you imagine the work involved having to put VIN numbers on handles?

What would a 41 VIN look like exactly? The reason I ask this is mine is not normal, it has the star then 2A**** then a star. I've never figured out why its different.

6-cylinder cars in 1941 had the 1GA prefix for VIN. V8s would have had 18 as the prefix for VIN. Canadian cars have different prefix than many US built cars. If you ever check out the body parts catalogs they have the 11A prefix then the model number followed by the linear part number. They are generally always pretty long numbers compared to chassis part numbers.

Have you ever seen a 6 digit VIN?

The part number for an inside door handle is 11A-702400 or 11A-7022600. If it is engraved, it is probably a Vintique part. I see numbers engraved on alot of their parts. Sometimes manufacturers use numbers similar to the Ford numbers. 11A is a part number prefix for 1941.

I didn't know of the part number thing, that's good info but have any of you heard of a 6 digit VIN. It's the same number on the bellhousing and frame.

Look at this chart...your car is a furriner!

Seems a clear match-up there.

On US Fords, serial length is just based on the age of the car, as numbers were pure serials for each engine family. You could have a '32 with serial of 18-1 (but the FBI would be looking for you if you had that one) or a '42 with 18-6 million plus.
