If that is what you like, put it on! In the old days[ in our part of the world], the thermette & picnic hardware was wrapped up in an old canvas & tied to the back rack & the food was in an old teachest covered by a teatowel on the back floor. Thats how I remember it!!

I say go for it. It's different and of the period. Maybe the more road grime, the better. Tie one up on the runningboard while you're at it with a stuffed chicken in it.

Is a teachest anything like a B cup? Not sure of Southern Hemisphere terminology. :)

Va bene. A little sausage, a little cheese, a little bread, a lot of wine; you're good to go... Ciao.

How are you going to get the road grime off of it?

A bit of a car-wash hangup? Some of us like 'em grimy! Seriously, a couple good coats of poly-u or marine spar varnish if you're 'old-skool' should make it OK for the occasional rain or wash-down. Be sure to remove the sandwiches first.

I like the wicker trunk as it can be removed very easily and used only when needed. I do like the look of my car when "trunkless", however it would be of use now and then. These trunks are made of skinned wicker and is quite water proof, in saying this I'm bit of a fair weather driver anyway, and I do intend to make a suitable cover when the weather becomes inclement.

I have some chickens I can take some "stuffed" ones that are in good condition :-) or some now mature Golden Wyandottes.

Here is a LaSelle with a wicker trunk to.

Oh yeh the black and white animal is a dog not a chook :-)

Go for it ! You might want to put a piece of plywood or some type of padding between the trunk rack and bottom of the basket, to prevent inveitable road-jostling from chafing through contact points between rack and basket bottom...

And when four o' clock rolls around, you can pull-over under a niece tree and broach the hamper for a nice cupper and a scone... :)

Cheers !
