How to find Model A speedsters

Hi, I am new to the forum and I have been searching to buy a model A speedster boat tail and had a few questions
Each time I find a speedster it usually is not a boat tail, are the boat tails after market or custom?
What is the expected price for a nice (Cruise and race) speedster and is a person better off to buy a roadster in decent shape and remove the fenders and convert it?
Lastly, are their any forums where classifed sections have cars more than parts available where on might find these cars?

I race a Pantera, Grand National and Cobra but I want to branch off into more vintage style open car racing.

thanks

Years ago a friend of mine had a 30-31 Roadster cowl, gas tank and the complete running gear, inc. motor. He used a 1940 ford hood mounted backwards to make the boat tail. When complete it looked just like a boat tail speedster; motor cycle front wheel covers that turned with the wheels, no runningboards, and no rear fenders.

Mike's Affordable north of Atlanta used to sell a very nice Speedster kit. They probably have sources for folks who are willing to unload their Speedster.

Vintage Motorcar Restorations in Atlanta has a beautiful Aluminium Race car with a fully louvered body. Not sure they'd sell it, but they did have a line on some other similar cars.

Jim Huseby, east of Kansas City can set you up. He makes all his own panels and does all his own sheetmetal work. Very impressive guy. Really slick work. 816-690-8464 or 816-690-6831.
