I'm back looking. The used one I bought fell apart. I've heard that these are a waste of money. Dose anyone disagree, and has one that works good?

Original gauge bulbs are available, you just have to look. you're gonna pay big bucks, but well worth the money, as the foriegn made and repaired bulbs just don't cut the mustard.

This is exactly the information I like to see on the forum. I was about to buy a replacement for my 39 pickup so this helpful info saved me the grief! Is there anyone out there repairing them? I'd spend the same money to have mine repaired and keep it "real".
Thanks

Be careful about who you have repair it.The red color fades out over time.Baxter Ford in Lawrence ,KS has someone that repairs theirs.Early Ford Store in San Dimas,CA might have a NOS in stock.Be prepared to pay $250-$300 for a NOS one.

I sent my dual fuel/ temperature gauge to have the temperature gauge repaired to
'The Temperature Gauge Guy' Roy Martin, Vermont U.S.A. phone number
802-862-6374 Email roymart@comcast.net he takes awhile to answer his emails.
Apparently he took over the business of and eldery person he had worked for some time repairing sight glass temperature gauges for vintage cars and his prices are right. I phoned him at one time sorting out repairs on my gauge and he remarked that he was very busy repairing these type of gauges mainly for Fords. He made an excellent job of mine and it reads accurately

Hey Ian, good to see you found someone.

Yeah, the new ones are crap, when I opened the packet the liquid was clear, I took it to an Instrument Technician, twice, to get the colour and the level right.

I know of some Ford owners here who bought reproduction temperature gauges and they last about two or three months, and they either do not read right or the fluid changes to clear. Roy fitted a new tube on mine as somebody in U.S. had tried to repair it at one time and had actually glued the tube to the head, instead of soldering it, you have to be carefull who you have repairing these gauges.
