hi guys. i have a 48 coupe that has a pump mounted on the frame rail mid way from tank to motor. will i need to drain the tank to change the filter? thanks for any and all replys.
thanks 4dford, doing that wont mess up the hose??
19fordy, i guess i could rig up a shutoff valve right where the fuel line comes out of the tank after draining and disconnecting the line insead of your idia ??
good info from everyone. assuming i have a fairly clean tank, how many miles should i expect to get from a new filter.
thanks 4dford, doing that wont mess up the hose??
I agree with Ken. A pump mounted on TOP of the crossmember is out of sight, above and as close to the tank as it gets. Filter mounted there is accessible from under the car. Any shut-off valve in the system can introduce an air leak, exactly what you don't want.
Henry, water (or gas) does not flow uphill. All lines, filters, pumps, everything is higher than the tank, so unless you work with the rear jacked way up, common sense dictates that you keep a disconnected line from hanging down low. Yes, you may get a tiny dribble from the front, but not from a half empty tank.
