Is there really only ONE '36 COE on earth?

Being rare doesn't make it any prettier. One thing puzzles me. Ford tended to make either none of a design or a bunch of them. Seems odd they'd make only ten . . . .although looking at that truck may answer the question (Ugh).

I saw that on you tube awhile back, no wonder they only made 10 and 1 is left, very odd looking beast, like a cartoon character of some robot thingy from the 30's. Now the 35-36 trucks and pickups are perfectly designed, nice lines and style, while the 38-39 COE is super cool looking, go figure!

It did not come from Ford, but there were at least two conversions done by outside mfg's. Dearborn Line was one and those looked different but not as weird as this one. I will try to find the name of the other converter. This interest is what caused Ford to do their own and yes the 38-40 are the best looking of them but 41-47 are not bad.

That is one strange looking truck!

As a kid my uncle took me with him on a trip to pick up a load of sand and gravel for a contractor and was driving the contractor's Ford COE. This had to have been in the mid to late 40's as my uncle was a veteran of WWII. On the way home there was a long steep hill and it was so hot in the cab my uncle opened his door and with one foot on the running board or step and the other on the accelerator, stood outside and drove the truck up the hill. True story, I was so impressed I never forgot it. BTW we delivered the sand and gravel to one of the prettiest girls in my class' residence. It was a good day.

I don’t know what year COE it was but I don’t recall it looking like this truck.

I can remember this like it was yesterday, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

I'm not sure this is the same one.....

Interesting that he says he wants $20,000 for it, but it's currently listed with a $10 starting bid and NO RESERVE. (No bids either!!).

Come on guys...that's a cool looking old truck!! I'm going to ask my wife right now if she can lend me the $20k to go and buy that truck :). The only thing I would do is swap that '34 looking grille to a '35. I think that would put the finishing touch on that baby. After that I would take it to an EFV8C/A National Meet to have it judged ;).

I wouldn't lose sleep if there were one less in the world. They only managed to sell 10. Surprised they made that many.

Why, yes, I am grumpy today, thanks for asking.

Mart.

I don't see how this is a 36 coe, perhaps part of a 36 coe body, but it doesn't have the original chassis ---it's obvious the original version was made for utility, not fancy styling, I wonder how it shifted with a 4 foot long shifter
