Another question on hub bolts

I did one that way on an original 31 cast iron drum and hub. It worked good for me, just don't quench the hot metal or it will become brittle and break.
 
Anytime you heat a piece of metal,stud bolt, rivet, etc. and work it, it will shrink and become loose. Wheel studs and rivets should be cold formed for a tight fit.

Somebody better tell all the bridge builders. They've been doing it wrong for centuries.:eek:
