Factory 48-52 Truck grille guard?

This grille guard came with my truck. I've seen one or two on the web. I'm trying to figure out if this was a factory option, or something dealer installed or aftermarket. I'm also trying to find out what the correct color is for it. It's wearing green paint right now, but my truck had been repainted sometime around 1964. Thanks. Please excuse my Hobbit feet and beer belly.

I have just like it and have seen a few on the net and in newspaper articles. With the "F" I have a feeling it might have been made by a company called Firestone, they made after market heaters which had the backward slanted "F". I'm not sure if they were part of the Firestone tire company or not. I also think someone told me you bought Firestone products from Montgomery Wards.

I'm pretty sure that guard was specifically designed for the "Monkey Face" '48-50, the '51-52 headlights are set farther apart, this guard follows the lines of the '48-50. As for color, I have no clue, I painted my black with a red "F" and white curls below. I would guess they were probably painted all black, it would have been the cheapest way to paint it because black paint was cheap and it would go with any color truck.

Yeah, I meant to say 48-50. There's a pic of the grille installed on the truck in my album if anyone is interested. I think I may end up painting mine black as well because it'll be a nice contrast to the tan grille. Thanks Bob for your help.

That is a pretty nice grill guard. Here is one that came on a 50 F2 from Texas. Don't know if it is a regional thing.

I have a '50 . I bought this on Ebay as an original Ford accessory

This is the only pic I have now I can take a better one later if anyone needs a better look. When I lived in Texas I saw a after market grille guard that I like . It was made by a company called "Perry" and they are still in business . They used make one called a "Smashhit" I don't have a picture of one . I called the company and tried to see if they would make a retro but no luck. Dude-")

I've seen those a few times. They look real sharp with a chrome bumper. It's amazing how many times they managed to stamp 'Ford' on those trucks. Header panel, tailgate, all four hubcaps, both hood sides, and hey for an extra few bucks you can buy an accessory that says it one more time. :)

The grille guards that were common where I grew up were usually made by local weldors and known as "bedsteads". Notice the center section of the first one? ..B.
