I've been told I can use a chevy s10 master and booster in my 54. I have disc in front and drums in rear so was told the s10 proportioning valve is internal and doesn't need adjustment. Is this correct? Has anybody done this, if so, any problems or is there a better way to go. If tyhis is agood way to go, what year parts should I buy???
Thanks

I would guess that someone happened to have a donor car, and made the swap. And it probably bolted up fairly easy. The function of it is the same. I bought two new ones supposed to be for 57-59 fords, the instructions said Chevy impala. In both cases the arm from the pedal to the booster was to short, had to lengthen it. Have you checked ebay parts for that year? There is a guy named old Irish Dave who sells brake booster kits, check with him. Mark

The factory proportioning valves are fixed value non-adjustable, and should NOT be used on any vehicle other than what they were designed for. It's best to use an adjustable aftermarket prop valve in any custom brake installation.

Agreed. The S-10 M/C and Booster were designed for S-10 brakes. better to use an adjustable prop valve if using mixed brakes on your car.

On my '55 I am using Granada brakes front and rear all off the same car so I got the M/C, Booster and prop valve at the same time.

I'm having good luck with the prop valve and other parts from a Granada. The 55 is heavier, but the brakes match front and rear.
