Update On Mac's Shipping

I placed a $200 order with Mac's before noon last Friday and paid the $3.50 for express shipping. Everything was in stock. I received an email that the parts shipped that day. I have been out of town for three days. The parts were sitting on the front porch when I arrived home tonight.

Hopefully things are getting back on track.

I got a phone call that my 4 wheel brake kit, assorted couplings, gaskets and such were on the way from a 20 FEB order.

Only item not in stock were the door check arms & I will get a call should they become available again.

:D i mailed them an order paying with a u.s.p.s. money order, they got my order and called yesterday leaving me a message to call them 1-800-777-0948, i called and the girl that left the message was not in but the gal on the phone looked up my customer number (you know zip and first four letters of last name) found my order and said they had a question because some parts were not for '34, i just told them that correct and she said every thing was in but a couple.
and did i want to wait for b/o, said no and she said they would ship out tomorrow.
so im still getting great service from them and i havent ordered for at least 2-3 years.

I think they are trying to fix the problem. When I ordered yesterday they told me they were behind on there shipping due to heavy volume before I even ordered.I paid the $3.50 and they said it would ship before 2 pm today. At least they are trying ,that says alot today.

I placed an order & 1 part wasn't in stock, but I got great response and communication from Tammy K, with 4 options on how they should proceed with the order, she said my order is on her desk and awaiting my response, very helpful and nice personal touch, they are real busy but doing a good job!

Returned a defective part (rebuilt by outside vender) and was credited quickly for price and my shipping cost. I'm happy.

I have never bought anything from them so I have a question. Is the $3.50 express shipping charge for a faster shipping method or is it their way of saying for an extra $3.50 we will work a little harder to get it to boxed up and out the door?

The answer is "to work a little faster".I have been a cutomer of Mac's for many years, their shipping record has been spotty all along, but to pay extra to get servive in a "timely" manor may cost them a good cutomer,I hope they read the "Barn" and claen up their act. Phil

If you order from Mac's before 2:00 PM and pay the express shipping, they will ship the same day. In my case the $3.50 was 1.75% of the total. If you are being held up for parts, it is a small price to pay.

I wonder if at 2:00 pm they stop processing/shipping non-priority orders to rush the priority payers' orders out the door. If so, it pushes the ordinary guys' orders that have been in cue for days back another day. It's like privileged people breaking in line.

I just re-read that post and I didn't mean to sound like the customer is being rude. I think maybe a discount from the order total to allow other orders to be shipped ahead would be more open to the customer if he consciously takes the option to pay less to get behind somebody else.

In a small way he is saying put the other guy first Because I won't pay the $3.50
"GOOD" Business "BAD" Business I don't know.
It is up to each to decide if it is Worth it to them or not.
Time v.s. $$$$$ Always a factor to deal with.

Mac' Antique Auto Parts has one of the largest inventories of old Ford parts around. That's nice. If you are in a hurry for the part, then don't buy from them. I ordered an open car rear view mirror from them on Feb 15th, I got a notice on the Feb 17th that they had processed the order. It is now the first of March and I still don't have the mirror. It is a good thing that these are winter months and I am not presently driving the car. Oh, when I placed the order, they responded at that time that they would send me a new catalog. I got the catalog in about 5 days. Now, where is my mirror?

My open car rearview mirror arrived this afternoon, March 1st. The paperwork indicates that the order was processed on February 17th, shipped by priority mail on February 27th and then it arrived here three days later on March 1st. Nice mirror and priced fairly. Just order early, and order often.

I agree. Then what happens when everyone pays the $3.50, do we all go to the end of the line? :)

It seems that Mac's wants to earn a little extra on each order. $3.50 for express shipment, two weeks waiting for regular shipping. I think I smell a rat.
