68A rear bumper brace

Is the rear bumper brace for a 68a caabriolet longer than one for a standard coupe? On the one I have now the distance from the center of the hole where the brace attaches top teh rear cross member to the center of the hole where the riser attaches to the floor cross sill rear assembly is 16.5". This makes a difference in the positioning of the floor cross sill rear asembly. There are no predrilled holes and the original wood is gone. I have attached a photo. I hope it works.

According to the Part Releases for which I have, the A-17777 (RH) and A-17778 (LH) Rear Bumper Arm Assembly, is the same for the Roadster, Coupe (Standard and Special), Business Coupe, Sport Coupe, and Cabriolet. The Cabriolet requirements were added to the PR on February 8, 1929 under PR# 11959.

So, to answer your question...No. They should be the same.

It sounds like the Parts Release is a very useful document. What exactly is it and where do I get one?

Part Releases tell of the part number and the release date of the change and the change itself.

Not all PR's correspond with an exact date of release of the part itself.

You can get Part Releases from The Henry Ford, Benson Ford Research Center, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn, MI 48121-1970. (313) 982-6020.
