How do you remove the rear end 1935

I’m trying to remove the rear end complete assembly from my 35 coupe, but the bell end of the torque tube (where the speedometer cable ties to) will not clear the floor to slide out. It’s like the body needs to be lifted up a bit for more room between the body and the frame at the bell end. I’ve worked on several 34’s and there was no problem but this is the first 35. Surely ford design this car to where the rear end can be pulled out without lifting the body, which would be a job no one would want to do.

What I do is remove the floor pan bolts by the torque tube "ball" and wedge a piece of wood between the pan and the frame on each side. The "ball" should now clear. I admit it is primitive but it works.

I have seen floors butchered... The first time we did one of these, way back, we had a few choice words for Ford design people... then it occurred to us that
doing the wedge job on the floor was the answer... (This also explains why Ford went to the two-piece u-joint cover - imagine a 32-34 one-piece on a 35+ ...)

When did Ford go to the two piece design? I have two of the two piece assemblies- one is castings and the other is stampings. What are the years for each of these? Thanks!!

Don't know stampings vs. castings, but started using 2-piece for 1935, and is designated for service replacement for 32-34; had to cut-off original 1-piece if defective, per Service Bulletins. Since the 32-34 part was a stamping, I would bet that the first 2-piece were also a stamping and the casting came later on???
