The panels shown on the link is not for the steel top 31 pickup. The panels shown appear to be used for street rods where a smooth top without the cobra grain is wanted. I don't believe that the 31 steel pickup roof panel is reproduced. A few years back someone offered a fiberglass repro 31 pickup roof panel and it may still be produced. I got one in 1999 in a large parts collection that I bought. The fiberglass panel looked good and I sold it to a guy in Texas in the early 2000s

There must be something at the junk yard that you could cut a top section from. Make a paper templet then lay it on some vehicles to see what fits.

If you look at the bottom of the link a smooth top is listed for the 31, part #SR-501A. $125. Maybe I do need glasses, lol.

He would need to be purdy good and have special equipment to make the roof for the steel top 31 pickup. It would be more complicated than making a filler panel for the other models.

The earlier 31 pickups had a fabric covered roof with metal panels above the doors similar to the tudor sedan. The steel top pickup had a full metal roof from door top to door top. If you look at the top of the link it states that the panels are offered for street rods. If you look at the pictures you can see that the panels shown are fillers and do not curve down to the door tops. I'm not wearing my glasses. Being as you are having a hard time grasping what I am trying to tell you, go ahead and buy the panel, it will teach you what a thousand words never will.

That panel you have listed is only the filler panel .You still need to use the original curved panels over the door and your visor. The late 31 goes from doortop to doortop, and the visor is part of it.The price of the one you show would be way too low for such a complicated piece to make.I bought a new glass one once,it was about $300.I liked it.I don't see much use for the metal filler one,it is a lot more work to install, seal, and make look good than just installing the soft roof.If you are trying to get around finding those door top panels, that filler won't do it.The original late 31 will.Be careful if you try to buy those door top panels new, years ago they listed them for the pickup and tudor as the same, they are NOT.One is wider at the rear than the other and you either have to narrow up the wood or stretch it out. That may have changed now, after buying a pair that didn't fit I bought originals.I haven't bought any since. If I can find anybody with one of those fiberglass tops for sale I will have a pair of those door top panels available.

Ok, the original curved door panels are in place and fine. From what you guys are saying if I just fill the hole it wont look anything like a stock hardtop? I understand, that sucks, lol..........

You won't get the same look as the one piece top.you will have a seam across the front where the filler and visor meet,it is also where both parts are nailed down. The late 31 has the visor stamped in as part of the top.No seam, just a line of screws across the front that get painted over. You will also get a seam front to rear on both sides above the doors, the late 31 top doesn't have that. Then you will have one across the back, side to side, the late 31 does have that.I've seen rodders weld them all together then fill the seams, all I've seen are cracked. The soft top is really easy to install.

The vendor at this site advertises "Model A Pickup Roof Panels - Coming Soon". However, I know these remarks have been touted for at least 3 years. Each time I called I was told that it won't be long now. I haven't called in about 5 months, so I don't know if they are any closer to production. If they ever do produce a panel, it will probably be a quality part.

Thought about the flexing, not good. Sounds like I better just soft top it and call it good. Thanks once again Sirs.................

If a person really felt a need to do this like Tom W. said make a template of what would work and with all the minivans in the salvage yards today a nice panel would seem to be possible. Particularly if you had the metal working skills and tools.
