Timing gear-this one scares me

Reassembling my '25 T engine. I could not install the cam gear as the teeth bottomed out on the crank gear. It's a fiber gear that ran on the engine previously. All I can think of is during the main brg. rebabbiting, the line boring operation did not hold the required the cam to crank centerline dimension. They are too close together. Anyone out there ever experience this? Does anyone have a solution? I fear this to be a tough one.

Thanks for any suggestions...

If who ever align bored your motor, got the center distance off, you may have many more problems then just that. Was the crank center lined when ground, did they pull the crank gear off to use the gear area, and the out side of the rear flange to center the crank. Is it set in the block right, if it isn,t, the front may not be the only thing off, if the rear is off center, so will the tail shaft be, for the ball cap. That is just a few, there is alot more! It would help to have a few pictures, of the crank in the bearings. The big thing is to have ALL the crank journals dead center of the main bolt holes. There is NO Excuse, to have the gear mesh off, if thats wrong, you better look every thing else over. Herm
