Tudor "A" seat vs '32 seat...

What (if any) are the differences between 'A' tudor front seats and those of a '32? (I need a passenger seat for a '32 and picked up a really scrungy 'A' seat at Hershey (it was cheap.) Is this a possible situation or should I write it off? Thanks!!

PS: What kind of wood was used in a) seat bases and b) roof ribs?

Here are the only pics I have from one of my seats. I think you can make it fit, as the passenger seats just have the two front hinge bolts through the floor.

Thanks. I have the '32 drivers seat (passenger seat was missing when my brother bought the car,) but it's been tucked up in the rafters of the garage for the past 50 years or so. I really should have taken it down and examined it before I went to Hershey. Maybe today I can get the driver's seat down and compare it to what I dragged home.

Dragged the seat out of the rafters and it turns out to be the passenger's seat! How did my brother chain tow the car home 54 years ago without a driver's seat? Now I need the DRIVER'S seat hardware. I picked up a frame / spring pile of rust at Hershey and I'll have to make new wood. Haven't had any success finding the hardware on the Swap Meet Forum. If all else fails, Speedway has a seat slider kit (inexpensive.)

The seats on a 32 and Deluxe A Tudor, victoria, 400A. are close but not 100%. As far as a standard tudor top of the seat is smaller both in height and width as is the bottom. So look for a deluxe seat for the model a :D.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to pull out the seat I have (passenger side) and compare it to the frame / springs I got at Hershey. I'm working on a "modified" car and 100% is not necessary at this time.

I have some seats or seat frames from a Vicky not sure if they are pass or drivers. I will take a look if needed but they will need love and new upholstery I have had them for years so they will be cheap Thanks

Does one have a fore and aft adjuster mechanism? If so, I'd be very interested. Thanx!

A&L Parts in Canton Conn has an excellent reproduction of the original driver's side seat adjustment tracts. I bought his (Al LePore's) set and put it into my Victoria and it works perfectly. I think this will work in 1930-1932 Tudors, Victorias and A400-B400 cars. He also has the passenger seat mounts, but they do not slide to adjust like the driver's side does.

If I recall the passenger seat on the Victoria had a tube and flipped up on a .250 rod that went thru brackets on either side of the seat . here's a few pics of the seat frames out of a vicky

Got a link or phone number for A&L?? I'm going to try to make a driver's seat out of a Model A seat frame I picked up at Hershey. I'll have to make a new wooden base, widen the frame about 2" and get new springs. If the adjusting thing from A&L doesn't work out OK, there's always Speedway. Thanks!!

The hardware is different but the seat is the same drivers to passengers. I think I still have a pattern Dick Spadaro made for me of where the holes belong. Look back in the classifieds. There was a 32 passenger seat in Connecticut (Tom maybe). I don't think it sold.

I got the passenger seat I have down today and undid the upholstery around the bottom. Tomorrow, i'm going to make a paper pattern and chase down some 1" thick hardwood. I compared it to a ruinous Model A seat frame I picked up at Hershey. The A seat is about 2" narrower than the '32, but I think I can widen it by welding in some pieces. MAC's has new springs and that might be the way to go with either an A&L adjuster or Speedway sliders.

Doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort if it isn't going to be original, why not just apolster the A seats the way they are?

Well, I already have one seat (passenger) and I need:
1. New wood base for the driver's side.
2. New springs for the driver's side.
3. New upholstery for both sides.
I figure I might as well try to at least make them the same size.
