to clean hood hinges

After I sprayed the hood some paint obstructions were in the hinges of the hood.
I cleaned them with a welding rod with sand paper ( 80 grid ) taped to it . My electric drill did the rest.

Just want to share this, many have better ideas of course but for me it worked fine.

I use wood dowels for hood pins. Just blacken ends with magic marker, soak overnight in linseed oil, and install. No rust, no squek, & plenty strong

I prefer to use solid stainless steel rods; they hold the hood very straight and no worry about rust developing. Had one set of hollow stainless rods, did not like them as well as the solid rods.

I, like you, used my electric drill to clean the inside of the hinge; used Kroil to loosen up the rust prior to cleaning.

Just my opinion !
