36 Ford Pickup owners. I need your help.

I have recently noticed a feature on the side of a 36 Ford pickup bed that I have never seen before. I am attempting to establish the authenticity of this feature on a 36 bed, and if authentic, when this feature was introduced.

The puzzeling feature I am concerned with is a small brace or bracket on the side of the bed, at about the center of the top of the rear fender, and extending upward and outward at the same angle of the bed side. I would post a picture, but have not yet learned how to do that on the new format.:)

If you have a 36 pickup, I would appreciate your giving me a call at 404-316-6748 or dropping me an email at lacoxii@bellsouth.net.

I am trying to establish authenticity and date of introduction for the 35-36 Ford Pickup book I am writing for the EFV8CA.

Thanks

Before I get myself in trouble, I do not claim to have seen all 35/36 beds. None of the ones I have seen had the center support.

Lawson...the center brace above the wheelwell was on the 37 beds. I have never seen one on the shorter 35/6 beds.

I had never seen it except on 37's until last month. Since then I have seen it on two 36's. It looked original on both. One with a window bug of May 36 and one near the end of 36 production. I am just looking for others, to help figure out if the "37 brace" actually began in 36.

Old Henry just keeps bugging us doesn't he?

I had never seen it on a 35-36 bed either until last month. I have seen tow 36's with that brace and they both looked original. Maybe the "37 brace" actually started being used in 36. That is what I am trying to figure out.

Not sure about that, but one is possibly a replacement of some sort and one has had a lot of work done on it, incorrectly I might add. When I get back home I will check out a bunch of notes I have made and try to figure that out.

I have seen that before. No hard feelings but a lot of the information in that thread is not correct. Wait for the book. lol

Good to know.... My 35 will not be stock but I like to save info. for that rainy day. Do you have a good spot for correct info?

Ford Archives best spot. The 35-36 Pickup Book is a work in progress, but we still have a long way to go. Progress depends to a great extent on EFV8CA.
